The events subsequent to Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami are still unfolding with considerable focus on the nuclear reactor plants. There are reports that the second reactor may be in partial meltdown with radiation levels exceeding legal limits. Massive evacuations have been ordered by officials. There are varying reports and one site, Watergate Summer, has done a wonderful job with updates and further links for more information--below.
There is also information regarding preventative measures for those rescue workers, reporters and staff who are there or en route.

I think this is a disaster of epic proportions and there will be many, many birth defects and cancer cases in the future because of this. My thoughts are that the world really needs to look into discontinuing the use of nuclear reactors. This is a scary, sad time.
