Deb of 'Lets Be Clear' website wrote a  post titled The white supremacy collective still imposing their hierarchy of human life after all these years.
It's an article that I'd like to share with my readers and her concerns mirrored mine about the events that led to this young woman losing her life.  I saw partial footage a number of times and I couldn't help but wonder why they didn't shoot her tires out (later advised this maneuver may not have kept her from speeding off) but as my husband indicated they could have boxed her in with their cars.  The most troubling aspect of all of this is when she did stop the car and got out; they unloaded on her.  One source indicated that it was difficult identifying her due to the injuries incurred when she was riddled with bullets.  No footage available on that.  How about warning her and allowing this young woman who was clearly mentally disturbed the option of lying on the ground or raising her hands in the air.  The media did a good job at relegating her to that of a terrorist like individual and one not worthy of being arrested, charged and given a fair trial for her actions.  There was a vindictive quality to all this given the two law enforcement men who were injured as a result of the encounter.  Many of the so-called black leadership have been quiet on this or have sanctioned the actions of the security forces at the White House.

I thought I'd share this article with you from Salon.  The staff initially viewed it on Alternet and printed it on their website.  There are many I'm sure who view this analogy as hyperbolic, however, history has a way of repeating itself within a contextual timeline.  It's been my contention for some time that the wounds and deeply held resentments passed down from generation to generation by many who were confederate sympathizers, white supremacists and yes those blacks who supported the system as well are represented in the modern Republican Party.  The latter entailed actually owning slaves other than their family (a necessary evil to keep loved ones within the family) and forming black confederate regiments.  The well known one--originating in North Carolina.  Human complexities played out in the modern arena.

TWO OF THE DEADLIEST KILLERS OF WOMEN ARE FEATURED DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER ~ REVISITED

This is a re-posting of an article I wrote October 30, 2010 which focused primarily on domestic violence issues,related links and the irony of recognizing breast cancer, another killer of women during the same month. Much  hasn't changed since then and it is a growing problem that encompasses partners, spouses, children and extended family members. There has been one dramatic and peculiar twist to the plight of women who are trying to defend themselves from their abusers and are still prosecuted by the Criminal Justice System. 

 As the month of October is about to end, I have a few thoughts about the pink and purple ribbons and the panel of women in this image.  It may be a coincidence or a calculated move, however, it strikes me in a deep place that domestic violence and breast cancer are both killers of women and are featured and discussed by the media and advocates in disparate health and human service fields during the same period.  It should be assumed that these deadly killers are just as important and relevant throughout the year.  Yet, there is a tendency to go on to the next scourge or event that has a harmful effect on humankind as it blends in with the rest of the chaos that invades our homes, offices, work and academic environments by various media.
